NGC 7129 & NGC 7142

This striking pair of objects are located in the constellation of Cepheus. NGC7129 is the blue reflection nebula at upper right whilst NGC 7142 is the open cluster at lower left.

Date/Location: 12 September 2005   Corringham, Essex
Equipment: 5" f/6 refractor
Camera/Exposure: ST2000XM CCD camera
LRGB 50/10/10/10 mins
Notes: This was a frustrating image to acquire. For three successive nights my mount had the 'guiding gremlins' resulting in only limited exposures (most were thrown away because of trailing/lost guide stars). The image was put together from 5 Lumninance exposures and 1 each of RGB which were rescued.

Below is an example of the problems experienced during acquisition.
