Astrophotography by Eddie Guscott

Aurora of 29th October, 2003

Although widely anticipated, this aurora resulted from an X class flare from the Sun which impacted Earth's magnetic field around 6.30am (daylight for me) so I just about wrote off the event as not being observable. However, around 7.00pm (some 12 hours later), activity started rising again and I took my chance to travel 35 miles to a dark site to capture these images of the aurora.
