M87 - Giant Elliptical Galaxy

Containing several trillion stars, this giant galaxy in Virgo also shows a jet of gaseous material being ejected from the core of the galaxy at near relativistic speeds.

Equipment: 8 inch f/12 Takahashi Mewlon Cassegrain on AP900 mount
Camera/Exposure: ST2000XM CCD camera/Astrodon filters   LRGB 30/10/10/10 (2x2) all 1 min subs.unguided
   
Notes: This was really a bit of an experiment to see what could be imaged on a really bad night. Lot's of cloud scudding around and very high winds.
