Venus

The second planet from the Sun in our solar system, sometimes referred to as the "morning star" and/or the "evening star".

 

Date/Location: Corringham  20 March 2009
Equipment: 8" f/5 Newt @ f/10
Camera/Exposure: Toucam webcam @ 1/5000 second + 15fps
Best 39/1841 frames
Processing:  
Notes: Imaged just prior to mid-day whilst the planet is highest in the sky. Slightly hazy.
Venus is just 2.5% illuminated and 14 degrees from the Sun. Compare to images below -  the difference in phase can just be seen.

Notes:  2 days from inferior conjunction with the Sun and only 5.5 degrees away. I managed to get this picture (through bushes) just 4 minutes before sunset.

Equipment:  12" F4 Orion Optics (UK) reflector with x5 powermate = F20
Camera/Exposure:  Toucam Pro webcam - 66 frames:
Processing:  Stacked & wavelet filters in Registax, layers & curves in Photoshop
Notes:  50% illuminated and 18 arc seconds diameter. Seeing was awful (3/10?) and very windy
